Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Empower Therapy located?

Empower Therapy is currently offering teletherapy (VT or VA) with in-person evaluations and treatment within Chittenden County, Vermont. For in-person sessions, families visit our office space at GROW Prenatal & Family Center (Essex Junction location). For more information about our physical space, please visit the Contact page.

What ages are eligible to receive services at Empower Therapy?

Empower Therapy is currently accepting pediatric patients (ages 16-months to 18 years).

Is a formal evaluation required to begin therapy?

Yes. Empower Therapy strongly prefers to conduct in-house evaluations for all first-time clients. If the client comes with a recently-conducted evaluation (within the past three months), this may be considered in place of the initial evaluation.

Does Empower Therapy take insurance?

We are currently enrolled with the following insurance plans:

  • Medicaid

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont

  • MVP

  • Tricare EAST

If you have a different plan, you may opt to pay privately for our services or use an HSA card. All families have the choice to receive Superbills from our office that can be submitted to their insurance for reimbursement.

Can I receive early intervention (EI) services through the state?

Yes. Some families prefer to do EI solely through their state program, while others like to supplement services with a private provider. It is important to check with your insurance company prior to signing up for private EI therapy, since they may not cover the private treatment if a client already receives the state-based program.

Can I join in for therapy sessions with my child?

Yes! We always encourage caregiver participation. That said, some children show stronger participation when they attend alone. This is very case-by-case and will be a choice that is made between you, your child, and the therapist.

Where do I complete the required forms?

At the top of this website is a button for our Client Portal. When you navigate to that page you will be taken to a platform provided by Simple Practice. Here, you will be prompted to enter your information and be guided through completing all necessary forms. Please note: ALL forms MUST be completed prior to beginning therapy.

Iā€™m having trouble with my Client Portal. How can I get help?

Please email us! Before you do, you may want to try some troubleshooting. Simple Practice is the system we use for all documentation and client forms. You can peruse this handy PDF that will likely answer many of your questions, and is specifically geared towards the clients and their caregivers!

How much do your services cost?

The cost of services will be discussed with you when your child is scheduled.
